Habitat for native fish such as Australian Bass and Australian Grayling is under threat in the Deua River near Moruya due to the invasion of environmental weeds. Fish habitat on the Deua River was improved by engaging a wide range of users to reduce the impacts of weeds (15 km), restore riverbank vegetation (0.5 km) and improve Australian bass habitat, building on a previous project upstream. Completed in 2012.
