Mangrove forests are vital for the sustainability of the recreational fishery providing shelter and habitat for many saltwater and estuarine fish. Mangrove forest in the Manning River Estuary are being impacted by livestock access. Exclusion of livestock to 0.7 km of Manning River Estuary mangrove forest was achieved through the erection of permanent fencing. These works will encourage the regeneration of degraded mangrove forest. Completed 2010.
