Removal of exotic vegetation from waterways: Bass habitat rehabilitation, South Creek

South Creek in Western Sydney feeds into the Hawkesbury Nepean River system. The riparian zone along parts of South Creek was heavily infested invasive weeds. This project sought to control invasive weeds along a 500 metre reach of South Creek at St Marys. Weeds including privet spp., willow spp. and African olive trees were removed and three community planting days were held to plant 1500 native plants to help revegetate and stabilise the banks. Greening Australia and Bass Sydney continue to work together to improve habitat in South Creek. Completed in 2007.
