Removing a barrier to fish passage on Duroby Creek- Letting the tide in

Duroby Creek feeds into the Terranora Broadwater in the Tweed Catchment. An unlicensed rock and earth, block-bank weir, constructed across the entire width of the creek, was restricting the tidal limit and limiting fish access to habitat. This project involved removing the weir and, as a result, the natural tidal flow has been reinstated, 6 kilometres of habitat is available to fish, and flooding of residential land has been reduced. Completed in 2009.
